DESPERATE HOPE

In many countries, towns and villages, homes have been attacked for similar yet differing reasons.
But the results are the same. Death and innocent survivors whose lives are in danger. In the hope of
survival, these men, women and children leave their ruined homes and undertake a desperate journey crossing seas and continents, risking their lives in the hope of finding at last a safe and secure
place on earth.

These human beings find themselves facing pitiless seas and impassable frontiers.

This tragic reality and desperate hope are etched into her heart and form the central core of her work.

DEAFENING SILENCE

How do we obtain our capitalist way of life ?

Nothing more than cupidity and thirst for power of governments and multinationals who maintain deliberately the conflicts, famine and poverty.

The policymakers of the countries where the military or ethnic conflicts are maintained and underdeveloped countries operate for the same reasons by serving their own interests to the detriment of their people. We are the indirect beneficiaries of these despicable acts and lead a life relatively quiet and leisured, where we have little or no empathy and we are not outraged enough for these dying men, women, and children.

In every photographed scene of our everyday life appears shrouds symbolizing these dead people.

ABOUT ME

Hande Noyan

Having practised medicine in Turkey and France for twenty years, and having had some remarkable experiences, Hande Noyan needed to express her feelings. As a specialist in emergency medicine, she had worked in some extreme situations and witnessed the suffering of her patients. Also she developed an awareness of the challenges facing humanity and the depth of human suffering. Living in France since 1995, she observed with sorrow regressive steps occurring in her country of birth but equally growing intolerance and prejudice in France, a phenomenon more generally widespread in the West. Originally from a country combining western culture with eastern traditions, it seems natural for her to highlight these contrasts which are central to her work.

Indeed, due to this awareness, and the escalation of tragic events across the world, she could not remain indifferent to religious and cultural conflict, to the exploitation of religion for personal wealth and power, to the destruction of the natural world, and the abuse suffered by human beings.
